SHASHI DIP makes a fervent plea to put an end to unethical, obscene content on social media to protect the moral fabric of the country
In the last three to four years, following the Covid-19 pandemic period, the world of social media has progressed rapidly. Passionate influencers in different fields have got a free platform to showcase their talents, garnering a lot of praise as well as satisfaction.
Ever since the option of monetisation has been enabled, users are creating professional profiles and have started making money. But one of the negative consequences of this provision is that people, including women are creating indecent, obscene content, with sexual overtones, bringing shame to the entire human fraternity.
I myself tried my level best to stop this disgraceful malpractice by reporting many pages and suspicious profiles, but to no avail. All those indecent pages and unethical practices are flourishing unabated. No action is ever taken? Why?

There is an option to report on social media such as Facebook and Instagram, which works in political content, when citizens of the country who write about anything that is biased and against the interest of the country, their profile is restricted. But obscenity shockingly continues.
I personally find it exasperating that people holding high positions have failed to stop such deplorable cases in society, which exists openly. What else can be done other than raising protests?
The malpractice of revealing posts of women on social media is an issue that can have severe consequences. As a protector of women’s dignity, I feel extremely sad, because in such a scenario, sometimes women themselves are at fault.
Dear Women just know the consequences, safeguard yourself and stop such dangerous trends. Are you waiting for exploitation? Women may be exploited by others, who use their revealing posts for personal gain, and online harassment.
Objectification of women, reducing them to their physical appearance rather than their intellect, talents, or character; cyberbullying, and reputation damage, can take a toll not only on women’s mental health but on the very moral fabric of our society.
This is truly an issue of utmost concern. My appeal to all is to continue reporting explicit, obscene content, so that we can put a stop to this shame!
