An ode to Rain comes alive in a poet’s imagination. A short poem by SHAILAJA GANGULY

Rain is…

a saucy breeze flirting with my hair

Rain is…

the chirp of crickets tattooing the air

Rain is…

Shailaja Ganguly

a heady sniff of aromatic earth

Rain is…

a soft snore, escaping Dadu’s girth

Rain is…

the fragrant hiss of parathas in ghee

Rain is…

the playground erupting, with a muddy ball

                                                               and glee

Rain is…

your special ringtone nudging fledgling emotion

and making little drops of silence

moisten a heart, in slow motion…
