Faith in our Self, in our innate talents and abilities which go beyond the human intellect and logic, is that force in us which makes us totally invincible, undeterred by obstacles
Faith is a word that has different connotations for different people. In this article, the word faith is used exclusively for a knowingness within one’s Self about any given situation or desire to succeed in life. Many of us often wish that we would be able to do well in life and gain fame, as an artist, a writer, a musician, or even the head of a global enterprise. But what is it that stops us from going ahead with our ambitions?
If we have been told, even jokingly by an authority figure in our childhood that we do not have what it takes to be whatever we long to be, why do most of us accept that as the final verdict and don’t even attempt to prove that authority wrong? Some of us do try, but at the appearance of the first obstacle, we crumple up, and give up our dream.
We are all born with gifts and talents―all of us, each and every one of us. No matter how young or old we are, there is always a way, and it is never “too late” to learn. What is that way? Is it talent alone? No. It is faith in ourselves, in our abilities. Faith is that intangible force within us that allows us to stand by our dreams.
Self-made people are not those born into fabulously rich families with large corporate businesses where they automatically get the high positions they desire. No. Self-made people are, most often, those with very little formal education, with little or barely any money who have just a faint impulse of an idea―something they desire to do, something they desire to achieve―their purpose, if you will. And, most importantly, they have that faith―that turns their desire into reality in this world.
Your desire, your dream could be anything―from recouping good health and fitness to starting a new business, even at an age when most people are due for retirement from their jobs. If you are young and have a dream to achieve something good and worthy in life, stand by your dream. If you are a retired person and wish that you could be creative and do something, turn that wish into reality.
However, wishing is not enough. That wish has to become a real pulsating desire within you, whether you want to become a good yogi or whether you want to pursue another line of achievement. An achievement that comes from a creative mind, organized and put into action without harm to anyone else is spiritual. It is spiritual because in the pursuit of that achievement, we need to abide by spiritual truths, spiritual attributes becoming part and parcel of our entire being.
And faith―that beautiful force of Nature is already within us―we just need to awaken it and abide by it. Faith, it is said, can move mountains. That is true. Not only can faith move mountains, it can also create what you may today call an impossibility, for there is truly nothing impossible―nothing at all―when you have faith.
Faith in our Self, faith in our innate talents and abilities which go beyond the human intellect and logic, is that force in us which makes us totally invincible, undeterred by obstacles.
