When we trust God, we realize that He has unlimited healing power that can cure us of any ailment, including so-called fatal diseases like cancer, says OSWALD PEREIRA
More than 20 years ago, when I ran my own image management firm, I came across a charming woman in her early fifties, who wore a perpetual smile on her face. She was the happiest woman I had ever met. A former school principal, she was the chief executive of a call center training institution.
Tanushree (name changed), I learnt one day from her colleague was a cancer survivor. A strict disciplinarian, the children in her school had nicknamed her Terror Ma’am, because she hardly ever smiled and imposed her will on them with an iron hand.
But the school students did well in the board exams as Tanushree, while being an amazing teacher, had built an equally great team of teachers. Then, all of a sudden, cancer struck Tanushree gnawing at her, reducing her to a shadow of her former self. Doctors gave her just a few months to live.
In her childhood, Tanushree was a devout girl, who never went to bed until she had prayed to God. In her last months of life, she turned to God, and prayed to Him very fervently, often all through the night, as sleep eluded her.
She neither asked God to cure her nor even to reduce her pain and discomfort. All she wanted was peace and His Light to shine upon her. In her last days, she surrendered herself totally to God and to His Will, letting Him decide what was best for her.
Tanushree had never married. As she lay in bed, all alone, praying silently, God cured her of cancer.
While the school management was not good to her and replaced her with another principal during her illness, her old friend offered her the top job in his call center training institution.
During her illness, Tanushree had acquired a new personality trait ― smiling all the while.
Tanushree’s story shows that the ultimate healer is God. With His all-creative cosmic energy, God “can change the atomic structure of any diseased part of the body into a healthy atomic configuration,” says the great yogi Paramhansa Yogananda.
It goes without saying that God has unlimited healing power. God doesn’t want his children to suffer from disease. He always wants to see us whole and healthy. But it’s very important that we commune with God, daily through prayer and meditation.
Unlike human beings who are so full of ego, God doesn’t expect us to sing praises of Him. He just wants us to be close to Him.
God is all-knowing. We should trust in Him to take care of us. It is that trust, which can help to heal us of any ailment, psychological or physical.

It is true that survivors alone know the strength of faith and the prayerful alone know the strength of prayer.
In this context I feel like sharing a personal experience about a very amiable lady Miss Pattnaik who was a Catholic by faith. As I was dealing with the pensioners’ issues in my bank she would regularly visit me and very often we would talk over a cup of red tea. She was a strong believer in not only God but in the goodness of people as well and that precisely made her a very calm and composed inspiring personality.
Incidentally one day she asked me to provide her with a set of deceased accounts settlement forms and as I gave her a set of the printouts explaining all the formalities required for the claim, she not only profusely thanked me but blessed me as well brimming with an aura I can not define.
To my utter surprise, just after a few weeks her nephew came to me with the news that Miss Pattnaik is no more. He said she was suffering from cancer and passed away in the hospital even as remaining in the best of her self while still praying. Truly Oswald ji, people like her are close to God and that’s how we should be to be. And only then, being in the ambit and ambiance of Divinity we can be free of all dis-ease and revel in the joy of complete ease.
