SHAKTI DURGA says that scientific studies have proven that when you think positively, you impact yourself in the same manner

Science is starting to discover that how we think has a dramatic effect on our health and wellbeing. In other words, your mind and what it thinks is what decides your wellbeing.

Recently, a Stanford University study was done by Dr Alia Crum that looked at how women staff in the hotel housekeeping industry regarded themselves. Dr Alia Crum wanted to help the women understand how active they were at their work, which they hadn’t really appreciated.

When she first spoke to them, she asked them whether she thought they got enough exercise. Most of them said no. What they didn’t take into consideration was their work — they were actually on their feet all day long doing a lot of heavy work. In fact, they were getting a lot of exercise, but no one in the study was describing their work like that.

She got a group together and split it in half. One half formed the control group that she didn’t speak to at all. To the other group, she gave a presentation about how fit and active they were from doing their job, including how many calories they were burning in the different forms of work they did as part of their job.

She measured their blood pressure, their body fat, their weight, and their height. Then, after four weeks, she once again measured all these parameters. The group who’d been given the presentation about how much exercise they were doing had lost weight, and had less body fat. Their blood pressure had lowered compared to the control group for whom no significant change had happened at all.

The study had shown some amazing results and data.

Dr Crum said that here it was the mindset of the group that made the difference. These women now believed that they were doing a lot of exercise and believed that their work, itself, had the power to give them a positive health outcome. The results showed that it did.

So, if that’s the case, what else is it that we should start to believe? What else could we notice about our life? What else could we start to see for ourselves that would change our mindset? When we think positively, we will beneficially affect our own health, wellbeing, purpose and joy.

It seems that the sky’s the limit with what we can create for our life.

Spend some serious time in thinking what do you want to create in your life. What’s important to you? Are you willing to experiment with changes in your thinking to see if you can get there?

Once you have that figured out, your life is definitely going to change for the better.
