We should make concerted and conscious efforts to retain our energies or assets by avoiding all negative tendencies, which drain out all that is good and powerful. We have to be extra cautious and vigilant to plug leaks of our positive energies, says RAMESH RAJARAMAN

When one uses the expression “Savings and spending”,  it is generally interpreted as financial “savings and spending.” Don’t all of us take adequate precautions to avoid waste of even a small portion of our hard earned money?  But do all of us  apply  the concept of “savings”  and “wise spending”  everywhere  or  limit it  only to monetary savings?

The truth is that saving and spending is only understood in monetary terms by most of us. But I believe this concept should be extended to other aspects of our life. The internal savings concept can thus become the pathway to self-development and a peaceful life.

What really is internal savings and wise spending of such savings?  The internal savings are the energies that one acquires and which can be put to use for healthy and balanced living and also to   acquire moral and mental strength.  The attributes that spring from this includes being good, generating love and compassion towards others, and caring for our fellow beings, in order to live in peace and harmony. These positive energies make us complete as humans.

These energies and strengths are acquired through various processes which includes parental upbringing, learning from Gurus, reading books, attending sastsangs, yoga and meditation.  All these energies can be regarded as assets with a high net worth, if one were to use financial terminology. These assets help  in self empowerment, which can  well be used for  development of the Self and the welfare of the people around us as well.

But now the big question is that after acquiring such powerful positive energy, do people take adequate precautions to prevent leakages? Isn’t it better to use this energy in the right way and for the right causes, rather than allowing such resources go down the drain?

How do such leakages occur? It’s unwanted thoughts, wrong interpretations, reactive approach,  and low energy levels that can cause leakages.

It is important, therefore, to make concerted and conscious efforts to retain these energies or assets by avoiding all these negative tendencies, which drain out all that is good and powerful. We have to be extra cautious and vigilant to plug leaks and loopholes.

Many external situations may not be as per our liking and we cannot do much about it. If such situations exist in our “responsibility zone”,  we can make efforts to change them and if not in our “responsibility zone”,  we cannot really do much about it.  But it is awareness of the ground realities that will equip the mind to ensure that there are no leakages of positive energies through unnecessary reaction. This awareness also makes us avoid people with low energies, who can bring us down. However, when we have high energy levels, we can even help such people plan their life strategies in a manner that their lows are kept away.

Are we then ready to do effective savings and wise spending of our positive energies?  By answering in the affirmative we can well start our journey in this direction and  soon we will be flying high on energy.
