My new book, Beyond Autobiography of a Yogi: Yogananda and His Teachings, written after two years of painstaking research, released on September 5, 2024, is making waves.

Barely a day after its release, the book was ranked among the top 5 bestsellers in Hot New Releases in the True Accounts category on Amazon.

On a visit to Delhi, Nayaswamis Jyotish and Devi, Spiritual Directors, Ananda Sangha, Worldwide, who were each presented a copy of the book by this author, were all praise for the book. Said Nayaswami Devi: “We’ve been reading your book and have been thoroughly enjoying it. There is so much inspiration, deep insight, and devotion to Master (Yogananda). Added to this, your clarity in writing makes this a great book and a fitting tribute to our Gurudeva.”

She added, “We’ve already recommended it to many people.”

In a review of the book, Narayani Ganesh, Former Associate Editor, The Times of India and Editor, The Speaking Tree, said: “Oswald Pereira has brought alive the yogi who inspired many. After painstaking research, he shares his insights into Yogananda’s legacy that has touched millions. A valuable book, both for reading and reference, written in an engaging style.”

The blurb on the back cover, gives one a glimpse of the book. It says:

Millions of spiritual seekers consider Paramhansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi their Gita or Bible of self-realization―a journey to discover our body, mind and soul’s oneness with God’s omnipresence.  Oswald Pereira in this book captures both the essence of the autobiography and Yogananda’s core teachings.

Oswald analyses the autobiography in the first part of the book, while in the second part, he evaluates Yogananda’s philosophy of universalism, unity and oneness of people and of religions. He also discusses the parallelisms between Krishna and Christ’s teachings,  Kriya Yoga’s scientific technique of God-contact, various aspects of God; and compares Sri Ramakrishna and his disciple Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy of universalism with that of Yogananda.

While Yogananda’s metaphysical gyan helps us to renew God-contact and rediscover the joy within, his philosophy of universalism and oneness is very relevant in today’s environment of communal disharmony and discord.
